The Peter Henderson & Co. Trusted Seeds company sure was proud of the Succession Cabbages. They dedicated an entire page of their 1890 catalog to them as well as featured them on the showcase page and their full-garden vegetables drawing.
They admitted that these cabbages did take about a week longer to full maturity but that their size, double that of other cabbage plants, was well worth the wait. They also said that every plant produced a ‘perfect specimen fit for exhibition purposes.’ ?Henderson described this cabbage as being the most valuable for home gardens or market purposes.
It’s too bad the way they designed this vegetable drawing. The rows of cabbage heads would have made a wonderful background image. The large head of cabbage drawing ?in the foreground doesn’t look like it would be too difficult to isolate and use on its own.
